Our Executive Team

  • Peyton David (she/her)

    Executive Director

    Peyton David is a current senior attending Lowell High School and serves as the Executive Director of Youth for San Francisco. She is eager to bring about positive change, driven by her passion for empowering youth and addressing local community issues. This dedication is reflected in her roles as a board member of Dear Asian Youth San Francisco and as the Co-Founder of Create to Donate SF, an organization that donates handcrafted items made by youth to support local charities and organizations in need. Additionally, Peyton enjoys working with children and participates as a teacher at the Chinese Performing Arts Program (CPAP), where she mentors young students and teaches them traditional ribbon routines. At Lowell, Peyton serves on student government, utilizing photography to capture core memories and collaborating with her board to encourage student morale. Aside from her busy work, Peyton enjoys dancing on her school’s Varsity Song team, reading a good book, study dates with friends, and spending time with her dog.

  • Cynthia Lei (she/her)

    Assistant Director

    Cynthia Lei is a senior at Burton High School, where she serves as the Assistant Director to Youth for San Francisco. From a young age, she has been passionate about empowering youth voices, fostering youth engagement and youth advocacy. She also serves as the SFUSD Student Advisory Council Public Relations Officer, Curriculum & Instruction Committee Chair and Burton High School representative where she is able to advocate for SFUSD youth, creating necessary change. Drawing from personal experiences, she aspires to pursue a career in the political science and neuroscience field leveraging insights from both fields to address complex social and neurological challenges. Beyond her advocacy work, Cynthia is a varsity track & field hurdler and cross country runner, channeling her school spirit and athletic talents. Her dedication to community involvement reflects her deep commitment to creating positive change. In her free time, Cynthia enjoys exploring new cafes, playing badminton, playing League of Legends, and hanging out with friends.

  • Linda Nguyen (she/her)

    Secretary

    Linda Nguyen is a current junior at Lowell High School and serves as the Secretary for Youth for San Francisco. She is very passionate about empowering youth. Through her involvement in Dear Asian Youth San Francisco,  SFMTA Youth Transportation Advisory Board, and PACA (Provide Advocacy and Care for All),  she hopes to help provide a platform to help uplift SF youth, to help them be heard and seen in our government. Additionally, Linda serves as the Events Coordinator for Lowell VSA, Lowell Learning Educational Achievement Program (LEAP) Tutor Liaison, and as her school’s PTSA Co-Grant Committee chair, furthering her academic engagement. Outside of work, Linda enjoys dancing on her school’s K-Pop dance team KOEX, hanging out with her friends, and riding the MUNI around the city.

  • Anna Nguyen (she/her)

    Finance Director

    Anna Nguyen is a junior attending Abraham Lincoln High School and serves as the Finance Director for Youth for San Francisco. She is very passionate about youth advocacy, tackling community issues and uplifting youth voices to create a difference, as seen through her other positions on SFUSD’s Student Advisory Council, PACA (Provide Advocacy and Care for All), Project SF Flow and Project Warmth. Additionally, she is a member of her school's Dance Company (ALDC) and Varsity Tennis team, channeling her athletic passion. Anna aspires to go into political science in the future, where she hopes to draw from her personal experiences and create a positive impact in her community, creating change to better the lives of the next generation. In her free time, you can catch her jamming to her overplayed playlists, dancing, hanging out with friends or trying out new snacks.

  • Kat DLO (she/her)

    Outreach Director

    Kat DLO is a senior in the Law Academy pathway at Balboa High School and serves as the Outreach Director for Youth for San Francisco. Her passion for youth empowerment and civic advocacy is evident in her leadership roles, including Political Director for Voters of Tomorrow San Francisco and Homeroom Representative at her school. Kat’s commitment to public service began as a High School Elections Ambassador with the San Francisco Department of Elections. At Balboa, she is an active member of the esteemed California Scholarship Federation, where she mentors and tutors underclassmen. Additionally, she contributes to the Prom Committee, playing a key role in planning and organizing the highly anticipated end-of-year dance that students look forward to. With guidance from experienced lawyers in the Law Academy, Kat has developed a strong interest in corporate law and is determined to pursue a career at a major corporation. Outside of her academic and leadership pursuits, Kat enjoys discovering new corners of San Francisco during her walks through the city.

  • Carol Li (she/ her)

    Events Director

    Carol Li is currently a Law Academy pathway senior attending Balboa High School and serves as the Events Director of Youth for San Francisco. She is passionate about youth empowerment and fostering active engagement among young people to tackle community issues, which is reflected in her role as president of BGCSF’s Excelsior Clubhouse Keystone Club. In this leadership position, she oversees events related to leadership development, community outreach, financial literacy, career exploration, and cultural enrichment. At Balboa, Carol also serves as BALTV’s script writer, keeping the students informed with school wide announcements through digital films, and manages the Law Academy class website, coordinating student writing and research. Additionally, she serves as the JROTC Battalion Commander, leading a team of 12 staff members to support over 150 cadets in leadership, personal, and career development. Outside of her academic and leadership commitments, Carol enjoys drilling for her school’s Exhibition Drill Team, spending time with her dog, and exploring SF!

  • Sokuntheary Prak (she/her)

    Social Media Director

    Sokuntheary Prak is a senior at Lowell High School and serves as the Co-Social Media Director for Youth For San Francisco. She has a profound interest in local politics and amplifying youth voices, stemming from her passion for advocacy and change. With her position in Youth for San Francisco, Sokuntheary hopes to provide insight and promote vigilant issues in San Francisco through social media. At Lowell, Sokuntheary partakes in the Southeast Asian club where she serves as the Co-President and founder, plays Girl’s Varsity Lacrosse, partakes in the California Scholarship Federation, Shield and Scroll Honor & Service Society, and more. Outside of school, Sokuntheary is involved in various STEM organizations, enjoys playing the cello, and exploring the city.

  • Angel Feng (she/her)

    Social Media Director

    Angel Feng is a senior in the PULSE pathway at Balboa High School and serves as the Co-Social Media Director for Youth For San Francisco.. She is passionate about youth advocacy and community engagement, believing that everyone deserves a voice in issues surrounding their local government. Her dedication and passion is reflected in her various roles and experiences, from mentoring students at James Denman Middle School’s summer program--where she fostered a strong sense of community and ensured students a smooth transition into the next school year through tutoring in Math, Science, and English—to serving as a researcher for both the neuroscience and anatomy club at her school, where she creates informative and engaging slides to present to attendees. Beyond school, Angel interned at the Human Services Agency, where she developed teamwork, organization, and time management skills. With a passion for digital media and design, Angel has 3-4 years of experience using Adobe programs like After Effects and Premiere Pro to create fun visuals in video form. Angel aspires to pursue a career in the field of social sciences, particularly psychology. In her free time, Angel enjoys listening to music, hanging out with friends, and working as a bobarista.

  • Astrid Utting (she/her)

    Co-founder

    Astrid Utting is a Senior at Lowell High School and co-founded Youth for San Francisco. She began her involvement in local politics after witnessing how much of an impact local policies and leaders have on San Franciscan’s daily life and the critical role youth can play. She is a member of the San Francisco Women’s Political Committee PAC Committee, Lowell School Site Council, and is a Coro Youth Fellow. She previously interned in Supervisor Mandelman’s office and wrote a monthly teen column for the Noe Valley Voice. She enjoys exploring the city, cozying up with a good book (Or in reality a good TV show….), and baking.

  • Ewan Barker Plummer (he/him)

    Co-founder

    Ewan Barker Plummer is a Senior at Waldorf High School who serves as Outreach Director for Youth for San Francisco. He co-founded Youth for San Francisco in April of 2021 and now serves on the San Francisco Youth Commission representing young people citywide. Ewan began his involvement by volunteering on a District Attorney campaign and since then has worked to uplift the youth voices and concerns in the city. He serves on the Boards of the Alice B Toklas LGBTQ Democratic Club and United Democratic Club, and for fun likes to spend time with friends and binge-watch Netflix.

  • Annie Mai (she/her)

    Executive Director

    Annie Mai is a senior at Lowell High School, where she serves as the Executive Director for Youth for San Francisco. She has been passionate about political and youth advocacy since her teenage years, including memberships on the Student Health Advisory Board and the NorCal Teen Advisory Board for Bring Change to Mind, a national mental health organization. Additionally, Annie contributes as an SF Elections Ambassador for the City and County of San Francisco, putting her civic engagement into practice. Beyond her advocacy work, Annie is a Varsity Cheerleader, channeling her school spirit and athletic talents. Her dedication to community involvement and mental health initiatives reflects a deep commitment to creating positive change. In her free time, Annie enjoys exploring San Francisco's hidden gems, spending time at the beach, and connecting with friends and family.

  • Leann Luo (she/her)

    Assistant Director

    Leann Luo is a senior at Balboa High School and serves as the Assistant Director of Youth for San Francisco. She is passionate about empowering youth voices and fostering youth engagement for local community issues, co-founding and serving as the Vice President of Balboa IGNITE Club, a platform dedicated to amplifying women’s voices in advocacy and politics. Her roles as a UCSF Teen Intern, UC Berkeley research assistant, and current ASB Class Vice President reflect her dedication to public advocacy and public health. Drawing from her personal experiences, she aspires to pursue a career in pediatrics and the biomedical field, employing a positive and empathetic approach to supporting young individuals in their health journeys. In her free time, Leann enjoys working as a boba barista, exploring the food scene of San Francisco, and indulging in a good book.

  • Daphne Gilman (she/her)

    Secretary

    Daphne is a junior at the Urban School of San Francisco and serves as the Secretary for Youth for San Francisco. She has been interested in local and national politics since beginning to study them in middle school and has particular interest in social justice and constitutional law. Outside of Youth for San Francisco, Daphne co-leads her school’s Asian/Pacific Islander affinity group, writes on her school newspaper, participates in theater productions, and is a class representative. In her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, going on runs, and playing piano.

  • Joleen Deng (she/her)

    Finance Director

    Joleen Deng is a Senior in the Law Academy pathway at Balboa High School, and she serves as the Finance Director for Youth for San Francisco. She is passionate about youth and civic advocacy which can be seen through her leadership positions as a member of the Balboa Student Site Council, SFMTA Youth Transportation Advisory Board, Department of Elections Ambassador and Intern, and as Student Government Class Treasurer. Her experience as an attorney for Balboa’s Mock Trial team and a student of the Law Academy pathway has inspired her to pursue a career in law, where she aspires to defend the rights of underrepresented communities. Outside of academics, Joleen enjoys trying new restaurants in San Francisco with her friends, listening to Jazz, and playing golf.

    Peyton is a current junior at Lowell High School and serves as one of two Co-Outreach Directors of Youth for San Francisco. She is prepared to bring about positive change given that she is passionate about advocating for youth in the city. At Lowell, Peyton serves on student government where she collaborates with her board members to promote student voices and encourage student morale. Additionally, Peyton is a dancer on her school's Varsity Song team where she further expresses her academic engagement. Peyton demonstrates her leadership as a current teacher at a local Chinese Performing Arts Program where she mentors young students and teaches them traditional dances. In her free time, Peyton enjoys reading and spending time with her dog.

  • Winnie Liao (she/her)

    Co-Outreach Director

    Winnie is a current junior at Lowell, serving as the Co-Outreach Director for Youth for San Francisco. Through her leadership role, Winnie hopes to further amplify student voices and encourage youth involvement. At school, she is involved in the Forensics Society as a Varsity Parliamentary debater, as well as the School Site Council as a student representative. In her free time, she enjoys baking sweet treats, playing violin, and going for walks in the park.

  • Hillary Situ (she/her)

    Co-Events Director

    Hillary is a Junior at Lowell High School and serves as the co-events coordinator for Youth for San Francisco. She has always had a passion for creating change in her community and does this by volunteering locally. When she is not busy with school, Hillary finds herself freely writing and drawing about the world. Hillary is also passionate about education, which is showcased in her work with SF Change. There, she is a workshop director where she presents and teaches other youth about topics outside the standard curriculum. To destress after long days, Hillary takes naps and listens to music.

  • Sophia Manuel (she/her)

    Co-Events Director

    Sophia is one of the Co-Events Directors for Youth for San Francisco. She is ardent about community and global issues. She has long been interested in the inner workings of government. She founded the Political Advocacy and Education Club at her school. She has been active in local and federal elections and politics. She’s worked polls, supported various campaigns, and been an Election Ambassador for San Francisco, among various other community-supporting activities.

With her position in Y4SF, Sokuntheary hopes to provide insight and promote vigilant issues in San Francisco through social media. At Lowell, Sokuntheary partakes in the Southeast Asian club where she serves as the Co-President and founder, edits for Lowell’s video organization, plays lacrosse, tutors, and more. Outside of school, Sokuntheary conducts research for Project Smiles, enjoys playing the cello, and exploring the city.

  • Talia Rozen (she/her)

    Data Outreach/ Analyst & Graphic Designer

    Talia Rozen is a senior at St. Ignatius College Prep who serves as Data Analyst and Graphic Designer for Youth for Sanfrancisco. She also participates in Students Demand Action and started a group at her high school, freshman year. Outside of activism Talia dances in her school's workshop program and dances on her school’s Varsity Dance & Drill team. A fun fact about Talia is how much she loves music. Some of her favorite artists are Steve Lacy, SZA, and Tame Impala.

  • Hayden M (he/him)

    Transit Lead/Treasurer

    Hayden is a Junior at Lowell High School and serves as the Treasurer of Youth for San Francisco after serving as the Transit Lead for the past year. Hayden is passionate about accessible and transparent local government and a transportation advocate. He has successfully lobbied to save several Muni routes proposed to be permanently eliminated. You can find Hayden exploring rural transit throughout the state, so far he has ridden local transit in 31 of California’s 58 counties.

  • Gilberto Silva (he/him)

    Graphic Designer

    Gil is a rising senior at Mission High School and serves as a graphic designer for Youth for San Francisco. Even though he has less than one year in the United States, he has become the co-coordinator of the Latin American Student Organization at Mission; with the objective of supporting the Latinx students as well as to spread the culture around our community. In addition, he is one of the leaders of “Finding Our Voice” (partner of 826 Valencia), a program dedicated to supporting student newcomers, from Mission High School, by teaching them English. In his free time, he enjoys playing mariachi music on his guitar and vihuela.

  • Jessica Gajiwala (she/her)

    Social Media Manager

    Jessica is an incoming senior at San Francisco University High School and serves as the social media manager for Youth for San Francisco. She is a part of the RIOT conference committee, a committee dedicated to creating spaces for non-male identifying POC to create community and explore the intersection of race and feminism. Outside of school she also helps tutor youth and package meal bags with RISE Against Hunger. Jessica also loves reading, watching Marvel movies, and trying new foods.

  • Chloe Chon (she/her)

    Researcher/Writer

    Chloe Chon is a rising senior at Lowell, and serves as the social media writer/researcher. At Lowell, she takes part in extracurriculars such as debate, and enjoys writing for her school’s publication, The Lowell. Outside of school, she loves listening to music, writing, and playing tennis.

  • Oscar Denmark (he/him)

    Website designer

    Oscar is a rising senior at International High School and is working as a website developer and designer for Youth for San Francisco. He has advocated for the climate over the years, through protests, action in local government, and doing his part by biking to school every day. He has worked with local engineers to develop more eco-friendly household heating appliances and is seeing some of his work being used today. Along with climate activism, Oscar participates in Varsity Soccer and Track & Field. He loves going on long bike rides and listening to music.

  • Abbie Upton (she/her)

    Events planner

    Abbie Upton is a rising senior at Lowell High School and serves as an events planner for Youth for San Francisco. She volunteers as a poll worker and tutors in her spare time. Abbie is passionate about music and is a skilled cellist. She also loves reading and spending time with her friends, family, and 8 pets.
