Youth for San Francisco

A youth-led advocacy organization educating, engaging, and activating San Francisco youth to become civically and politically engaged citizens!

Youth for San Francisco gives high school students the tools and confidence to get involved in local government, campaigns, and issues they are passionate about while creating a network of engaged young people.

Our Story

Youth for San Francisco was founded in March of 2020 out of a need to give San Francisco youth a voice in local government. We believe that while we may not all have the power to vote (yet!), we deserve a voice in decisions being made about our lives and our future. Now, Youth for San Francisco gives high school students the tools and confidence to get involved in local government, campaigns, and issues they are passionate about, while creating a network of engaged young people.

Main Objectives.

  • Educate

Our team of youth writers and researchers educates youth on civic engagement topics through social media explainers. Past explainer topics include what the Youth Commission does, how to contact your representative, what the new 988 number is, how youth can support abortion rights, and more.

  • Engage

We engage youth through events that help deepen their understanding of civic engagement and political processes, and connect them to the community. Past events include neighborhood clean-ups co-hosted by Together SF and Refuse Refuse SF, a civic engagement webinar with The United Democratic Club Youth Committee, and more.

  • Activate

This includes (but is not limited to) publishing reports on youth issues, helping youth get involved in public campaigns, and contacting elected and appointed officials as an organization. We also aim to host youth networking events create a community of engaged young people.
